By: K2Q (J.Nicholson) Use: DFS Front End Program name: Manager Language: BASIC Compatibility: DFS Only John sends us this program with no info. However it is fairly self explanatory. Disc files are displayed at the top of the screen. Key options are displayed at the bottom of the screen. Press the first letter of these options to obtain that utility. DFS/ADFS Search. DFS/ADFS Search. By: 2J3 (C.J.Richardson.) Use: Disc Sector Search Program name: DSearch Language: BASIC Compatibility: DFS/ADFS Many times I have wished that I could search through a disc for a particular message or item by just leaving a computer to systematically search a disc. This program does just that in both DFS and ADFS. Simply choose the filing system. Enter the drive number. Enter the sector start number being careful not to enter too large a number here. You may enter hex numbers (precede with &) or decimal. Enter no more than &230 for DFS or &A00 for ADFS unless you are using a hard disc. If this is the case, change line 500 to a higher figure. I reckon you would need to leave the search running overnight though. Then enter the search string. The shorter the string, the faster the search. It is slow but sure! I hope you find the program of use, I have found it invaluable. Resistor Codes And C. Repeat Resistor Codes And C. Repeat By: K6N (B.Raw) Use: Convert resistor codes. File Names: rcod7st Language: C This program was on the last issue along with other related software and an article. rcod7st which is programmed in C ended up corrupted on some of the DFS copies. Here is the program again. User Port Data Transfer. User Port Data Transfer. By: K6N (B.Raw) Use: Import Data Via User Port File Names: Emulate Adaptor Language: Assembler Brian has been busy again. This time he has built a simple device that will allow you to plug another computer's printer lead into your user port. Then you run this piece of software. Anything sent to the other machines printer will go into the user port and onto a previously opened disc file. Full info on how to build the lead and use the software is to be found in the "Program Documentation" article. Text File Reader. Text File Reader. DFS Disc Utility. By: K8M (A.York) Use: Various DFS Utilities File Name: BasicSy Language: Basic Andrew (14) has written this program that utilises a number of inbuilt DFS commands (if your DFS doesn't have them, they will not work). The menu looks a little like a Computer Concept one and works in a similar manner. All the options are self explanatory. Amongst which are: Lock, Unlock, Format, Compact. Some of the options when chosen will cause the program in memory to become corrupt. It is possible to enter '*' commands by typing * instead of a number. Archiver Update. Archiver Update. By: Friend of K6X's son Program name: Magma Submitted by K6X, written mostly by a friend of James (Paul's offspring) as a project for school, this program simulates a volcano eruption. You are asked for the type of lava and number of layers of lava to be laid. Play around with the program to see what it does. Sticky needs a minimum of 3 layers before it will end. Runny needs a minimum of 6 layers. Drum Kit. Drum Kit. By: Nick Day Program name: Drum2 Originally on the December 83 Beebug disc but lost from the 8BS library until 3SQ supplied it. I have adapted it a little bit. My additions do not have a space between the line number and the rest of the line. The program is self explanatory, enter letters on the dotted line, the letters represent the type of noise. Quantum Physics. Quantum Physics. By: J.de B.Pollard and J.Sargent Program name: Quanta Info by James Sargent: "Quanta" was used by the Physics department to demonstrate levels of energy in an Atom or some such thing. It shows that no matter how it's distributed, after much random "movement" you end up with the same distribution of the different energy levels. Puzzle. Puzzle. By: C.Chapman. Solved By 2J3 Program name: Answer One of my workmates posed me a puzzle. He had forgotten the answer. It was: There are 100 people and #100. Men get #10. women get .50p and children get 12.5p. How many men, women and children? I wrote a program to solve this. Can anyone improve on my method please? Could someone write a program that poses these sort of puzzles? Pendulum Patience. Pendulum Patience. By: J.de B.Pollard Program name: Pendulm This game came with no info. It has beaten me but I am sure that some of you must know the rules to pendulum patience.
